Evolving Connectivity 2018 - The Review

Declared an unprecedented success, the CAI’s Evolving Connectivity 2018 show attracted top decision makers to the only national exhibition dedicated to the signal reception and content distribution trade. Since the 1980’s the CAI annual gathering has attracted and welcomed exhibitors showcasing the latest and most innovative products on the home connectivity and signal reception market.  More importantly it drew visitors from all over the England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to meet each other and experience how their business would be affected by the massive changes in audio visual delivery.

The show offered an unmissable opportunity for those within the signal reception and distribution trade to make sure they are up-to-date with all the new developments as our industry is undergoing some quite dramatic changes.  The CAI’s Senior Executive, Tim Jenks made his final appearance at the show before retiring in June after 24 years of service.  His job was to introduce the new Senior Executive, Peter Sealey who has already started work on the way forward as the industry faces a new era of content delivery to the home.  Digital TV Group’s Chief Executive, Richard Lindsay-Davies outlined how he saw the future of TV and he was followed by Ben Roome, Chief Executive of Digital Mobile Spectrum Services Ltd who are mitigating the changes to our TV spectrum allocation.  Graham Plumb, Director of Spectrum Broadcasting, Ofcom gave the regulator viewpoint on how and why the changes to TV spectrum were taking place.  After lunch the country’s favourite TV broadcaster, Freeview gave its view of the future via its Market Director, Owen Jenkinson.  Thomas Wrede Vice President of New Technology, SES-Astra gave a detailed analysis of how UHD TV was developing via satellite and the technology required to deliver it.  The day concluded with a popular panel session featuring the speaker line-up.  This enabled the audience to quiz the speakers on issues discussed during the day.
